‘Twisted Metal’ Season 2: Release Date, Cast, Plot – Everything You Need to Know

Anthony Mackie’s high-octane post-apocalyptic ride is back. After the success of its first season in 2023, Twisted Metal is officially returning to Peacock for Season 2 — and this time, it’s going bigger, bloodier, and bolder.
The Milkman Returns: What’s ‘Twisted Metal’ About?

Set in a chaotic, post-apocalyptic America where machines and the internet have collapsed, Twisted Metal follows John Doe (Anthony Mackie), a wisecracking deliveryman with no memory of his past. Tasked with transporting a mysterious package, John navigates a lawless wasteland filled with explosive car battles, dangerous outlaws, and deranged foes — all while chasing glimpses of the family he’s long forgotten.
In Season 1, John teamed up with Quiet (Stephanie Beatriz), a revenge-driven outlaw, and clashed with the unhinged Sweet Tooth, a killer clown with a thirst for chaos. The first season built the world — but Season 2 is diving straight into the carnage of the iconic demolition derby tournament that defined the original video game.
What’s New in Season 2?

In a teaser video posted by Peacock, the release date was officially confirmed: Twisted Metal Season 2 premieres July 31, 2025. The short clip shows new character Calypso (played by Barry star Anthony Carrigan) dramatically opening the gates to the legendary Twisted Metal tournament, setting the stage for full-throttle destruction.
Carrigan’s Calypso — complete with a long, flowing wig — is the twisted genius behind the brutal races. He’s the mastermind, the showman, and the man pulling the strings. In the teaser, John jokes about Calypso’s dramatic entrance, while Quiet watches on, unimpressed. But once the race begins, it’s pure chaos: explosions, wrecks, and Sweet Tooth gleefully declaring it “his kind of party.”
Fans of the games are in for a treat — Season 2 will finally introduce beloved characters like Mr. Grimm, Axel, and Dollface, bringing even more game-accurate mayhem to the screen.
Who’s in the Cast?

- Anthony Mackie returns as John Doe, who is now representing the enigmatic Raven in the upcoming derby. After Quiet shoots him in the shoulder to guarantee his entry into the New San Francisco settlement, he’s left separated from her, hoping to reunite and redeem himself.
- Stephanie Beatriz reprises her role as Quiet, who ends Season 1 heading back into the wasteland — only to be ambushed by a savage gang led by Dollface, later revealed to be John’s long-lost sister.
- Joe Seanoa returns as the physical embodiment of Sweet Tooth, with Will Arnett continuing to provide the voice. The clown’s love for carnage and chaos remains a highlight.
- Anthony Carrigan joins as Calypso, the mysterious and theatrical host of the Twisted Metal tournament. Fans of Barry will see Carrigan in a wildly different light here.
- Tiana Okoye plays Dollface, leading a crew of marauders and bringing a dangerous new dynamic to the show.
New cast members also include Richard de Klerk, Lisa Gilroy, Patty Guggenheim, and Michael James Shaw.
Behind the Scenes
Mackie, a fan of the original video games, praised the show’s writers for giving the characters rich backstories — especially John, who was a blank slate in the games. In interviews, he’s expressed his hope that Season 2 will show John maturing and making tough choices.
“You can’t be a milkman your whole life,” Mackie told Deadline. “You have to decide what’s most important — hold on to your past, or grow up and be an adult.”
And he’s not just acting — Mackie reportedly did many of his own stunts, from high-speed chases inside malls to leaping out of windows.
