Warning: This post contains spoilers for Thursday’s And Just Like That.
We couldn’t help but wonder how long it would take Carrie to get over her breakup with Aidan on And Just Like That… and it turned out to be not very long at all.

In Thursday’s episode, Carrie throws herself into work to avoid thinking about her heartbreak, cranking out new pages of her novel at an incredible clip. Even Duncan is impressed, lavishing praise on her productivity as well as her prose. But he knows enough to ask what her book would look like if Aidan was still there. Carrie says she doesn’t know the answer to that… but she knows she’d be a lot further behind.
Carrie raves to Seema about her creative connection with Duncan, and during another writing session, Duncan helps Carrie with her faulty printer and gawks at her closet full of designer dresses and shoes. He also mentions he has to attend a stuffy publishing party — and he invites Carrie to come with him. Carrie hesitates, but she eventually says yes, and Charlotte notices that she’s picked out a particularly fancy frock for the party. Carrie confesses that she doesn’t want to get any closer to Duncan, if only because she had a fight with Miranda about the very idea of it a few weeks back. Charlotte’s response? “F–k Miranda.” (Hey, when Charlotte says the F-word, that gets our attention.)

So Carrie joins Duncan at the party, where she meets his publisher… who is also his ex-wife, as it turns out. After a few drinks, he’s feeling bold enough to invite Carrie down to his apartment (!). She turns him down at first… but then she follows him to his door and kisses him passionately, leading them to the bedroom. Afterwards, Duncan warns Carrie that “when it comes to anything but writing, I’m a mess,” but the biographer admits that he’s “enjoyed being completely preoccupied with someone living rather than someone deceased.”

So do we think this is just a one-time thing, or is there an actual future for Carrie and Duncan? (Remember, he’s just in New York temporarily to write his book, and he’s already missed a deadline.) And though a few weeks have passed, does it feel like Carrie has moved on pretty quickly from Aidan?
Elsewhere in this week’s episode:

* Miranda and Steve’s son Brady dropped a big old bombshell: He got a girl pregnant. Her name is Mia, and she’s not his girlfriend; they just hooked up a few times. Steve was furious, and Miranda went into private eye mode, tracking down Mia at the salon where she works as a shampoo girl and grilling her on her pregnancy. Mia caught on, though, and just about waterboarded Miranda before storming off.
* Charlotte was still reeling from Harry’s cancer diagnosis, so she sought the help of an energy healer — hi, Susie Essman! — but their Zoom sessions kept getting interrupted. When they finally got together, the healer was annoyed by all the stops and starts, but she softened when she learned about what happened to Harry, and she led Charlotte through a serene guided meditation.

* Seema stayed over at Adam’s apartment, where he’s lived since he was a kid, complete with an overgrown plant that reminds him of his late mother. So of course, Seema managed to smash the plant while grabbing a smoke out the window. (“I killed your mother!”) Adam forgave her, though, and he did manage to salvage some of the plant. He is a landscaper, after all.
* Lisa learned the hard way that she’s been neglecting her family when her daughter lost her beloved hamster and blamed her for not being around — and to make matters worse, her husband Herbert lost his election to be comptroller.

* Giuseppe agreed to move in with Anthony, mostly to get away from his creepy puppeteer roommate who made a marionette puppet that looks like Giuseppe, and… well, we’d rather not talk about it.
