‘Downton Abbey’ Costars Laura Carmichael & Michael C. Fox Confirm They’re Married
There’s even more Downton Abbey love to celebrate. Just days before the release of Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale, costars Laura Carmichael and Michael C. Fox have confirmed they’re married.
The private couple, who share a child, met on the set of the hit series. They crossed paths in 2015 and started dating a year later. Carmichael plays Lady Edith Crawley, while Fox plays footman Andrew Parker. Both of them reprise their roles in the third and final Downton Abbey film.
Fox confirmed his marriage to Carmichael in the Downton Abbey Celebrates the Grand Finale special on NBC, according to TODAY.com. “I owe a lot to this show,” Fox said. “I think so much of my life has been shaped around this show.”
Fellow costar Leslie Nicol, who plays Mrs. Patmore, urged Fox and Carmichael to divulge more details about their romance. “What if someone said you’re actually going to find your wife and have a child? Life-changing stuff,” she asked. Fox replied, “I know. It’s incredible.”
The stars celebrated the end of the Downton Abbey era and made a rare public appearance at the September 3 world premiere at Odeon Luxe Leicester Square in London. Carmichael dazzled in a black and white lace dress, while Fox looked sharp in a black suit.
Back in 2019, Fox confirmed he met Carmichael on Downton Abbey and told This Morning that working together was “interesting.” He continued, “We keep things slightly separate.” He gushed it was an “absolute joy” to share screen time with Carmichael.
The Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale press tour has been full of celebratory moments. Carmichael and Fox’s costar Michelle Dockery confirmed she’s expecting her first child. Dockery debuted her baby bump on the London premiere red carpet alongside her husband, Jasper Waller-Bridge.
