The claws are out again. Netflix has officially renewed The Hunting Wives for a second season — and it’s set to be an even wilder descent into obsession, betrayal, and power. After the jaw-dropping events of Season 1, Sophie and Margo return to East Texas high society, torn apart by lies yet bound by secrets too dangerous to bury. Expect darker twists, new enemies, and even riskier games of lust and survival as alliances shift and the stakes explode. With Brittany Snow, Malin Akerman, and the original cast back in action, one question lingers: in this world of privilege and poison, are the wives still the hunters… or have they finally become the hunted?

There’s more drama to come where The Hunting Wives is concerned.
On Friday, Sept. 12, Netflix announced that the breakout hit series has been renewed for season 2.
The news comes nearly two months after the series hit the streamer and spent five weeks in the global English Top 10 TV list and amassed over 20 million views during the period.
While season 1 was based on May Cobb‘s book of the same name, season 2 will be based on an original script, and will see the original cast return to continue their stories.
The series follows Brittany Snow‘s Sophie, who struggles to adjust to a new life in Texas but forms a close and complicated bond with Margo (Malin Akerman),
Per the official logline for season 2, it will pick up with Sophie and Margo “on the outs” following the dramatic finale to season 1.
“But soon enough, old secrets and new foes force them back together. As they play their dangerous games, the question arises. Are they the hunters or the hunted?”

Showrunner Rebecca Cutter said in a statement that she “can’t wait to take the audience on another sexy, twisted, bats— crazy ride through Maple Brook” in season 2.
Along with Snow and Akerman, several other cast members are confirmed to return, including Jamie Ray Newman as Callie, Dermot Mulroney as Jed, Evan Jonigkeit as Graham and George Ferrier as Brad.
Based on the events of season 1, it’s unlikely that fans will see much of Katie Lowes‘ Jill or Chrissy Metz‘s Starr, both of whom died in the finale episode.
However, Metz told PEOPLE that she and Lowes “agree there needs to be another season and there needs to be a flashback scene where we see what went down” that led Jill to kill Starr.
“I feel like Jill had to have a secret. Because why else would she do that? Starr was a good woman,” Metz said. “So what is Jill hiding? Anyway, that’s my pitch. I’m going to reach out to the show runners and let them know we need some flashbacks if there’s another season.”

Akerman, 42, has also been open about her eagerness to dive deeper into Margo’s story.
“I definitely want a season 2, not only to see it all play out, but when you get to go back to a show over and over again, it’s like going to summer camp and seeing the people that you love the most,” she told PEOPLE in July.
“That’s what this show feels like. I loved everyone on the cast and crew. If we get a second season, I’ll be so, so happy.”
Season 1 of The Hunting Wives can be streamed in full on Netflix.
