Stephen King’s dystopian thriller The Long Walk has landed a perfect critics rating ahead of its cinema release in the UK next week.
After receiving rave fan reviews from an early public screening last month, the film has debuted with a 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes (from 16 reviews).
An adaptation of Stephen King’s 1979 novel of the same name, the story follows a group of young men in a dystopian version of the United States as they embark on a deadly journey in hopes to change their lives forever.
In a race with no destination where the only rule is to keep walking, the last man standing gets the prize of a lifetime.
The first reviews are calling the film “one of the most powerful Stephen King film adaptations in years” (via DiscussingFilm) that “will linger in your mind for weeks” (via GamesRadar).
Other critics have described the movie as “tense, moving, and complex”, calling it “one of the best horror movies of the year” (via Collider).
Licorice Pizza star Cooper Hoffman and Alien: Romulus’ David Jonsson lead the young cast of the film, while Star Wars icon Mark Hamill plays the terrifying Major.
JoJo Rabbit breakout star Roman Griffin Davis, Lean on Pete’s Charlie Plummer, Karate Kid: Legends actor Ben Wang and Judy Greer complete the main cast.
Francis Lawrence, best known for his work on The Hunger Games series, directed the film.
Strange Darling screenwriter JT Mollner adapted Stephen King’s book, which was originally published under the pseudonym Richard Bachman.
